This book is the result of a series of questions which are always asked of the writer when she tells people that her area of research is in organisational learning cultures. The concept of the learning organisation has been around for more than a decade. It is talked about as if it is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the holy grail that we need to be seeking, that it will be the panacea for all organisational woes. but what is learning organisation? Definitions abound. At issue is not only the clarity of the concepts of the learning organisation, organisational learning, knowledge management, but also the intregration among these concepts in the our context. How relevant are they to us, to our organisations? This book is written to clarify these concepts and despite the fact much has been written about learning organisation, there is a paucity of work done in the context of Malaysia, in particular the Malaysian public sector.
